Taboo! Social Community Standards
Taboo! Social was built by Second Life residents, for Second Life residents. We believe adults should be free to meet, express themselves, explore relationships, share their lives, and build meaningful connections without unnecessary censorship.
These Community Standards exist to protect the community—not to restrict lawful adult expression. We expect members to behave responsibly, respect personal boundaries, honor consent, and take responsibility for their own conduct.
Freedom of expression does not include harassment, exploitation, coercion, illegal activity, threats, abuse, or violations of another person’s privacy or consent.
1. Adults Only
Taboo! Social is strictly limited to people who are 18 years of age or older in real life. There are no exceptions.
Child avatars, ageplay involving minors, images of real children, sexualized depictions of minors, or any content suggesting that a user or character involved in sexual activity is underage are strictly prohibited.
A fictional persona, roleplay identity, or Second Life avatar age does not replace the requirement that the person operating the account must be a real-life adult.
If an account is reported or reasonably suspected of being operated by someone under 18, the account may be suspended while the matter is investigated. Acceptable age verification may be required before access is restored.
Content involving the sexual exploitation of minors may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
2. Adult Content
Adult content is permitted on Taboo! Social. This may include explicit language, adult profile text, nudity, erotic images, sexual discussions, BDSM, fetishes, kink, and consensual adult roleplay.
The rule is straightforward: lawful and consensual adult expression is allowed.
Illegal content, non-consensual material, exploitation, coercion, threats, abuse, hate content, or anything else prohibited by these Community Standards is not allowed.
Members remain responsible for the content they upload, publish, send, or share.
3. Respect and Consent
Consent matters. Respect the boundaries of other members.
If someone says no, asks you to stop, ends a conversation, leaves, unfriends you, unmatches you, or blocks you, respect their decision and stop contacting them.
Harassment, stalking, threats, intimidation, coercion, repeated unwanted contact, sexual pressure, or attempts to bypass a block may result in moderation action.
Members are responsible for managing their own personal and romantic relationships. Taboo! Social staff will not mediate ordinary breakups, disagreements, jealousy, or personal relationship disputes.
If another member is harassing you through Taboo! Social, tell them to stop when appropriate, block them, preserve any relevant evidence, and report the behavior to staff.
4. Hate Speech and Abuse
Hate speech, targeted abuse, credible threats, or content promoting violence, exclusion, or discrimination against people based on protected personal characteristics is not allowed.
This includes attacks based on race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, sex, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or similar protected traits.
Disagreement is allowed. Debate is allowed. Personal attacks, targeted dehumanization, threats, and discriminatory harassment are not.
5. Illegal Content and Conduct
Taboo! Social may not be used to facilitate, promote, solicit, or distribute illegal activity or illegal content.
Prohibited conduct includes, but is not limited to:
- Sexual content involving minors.
- Human trafficking or exploitation.
- Non-consensual sexual content.
- Credible threats of violence.
- Terrorist activity or recruitment.
- Fraud, theft, or criminal solicitation.
- Distribution of unlawfully obtained private material.
- Any other conduct prohibited by applicable law.
Illegal content or conduct may result in immediate removal, permanent account termination, preservation of relevant records, and referral to the appropriate authorities.
6. Privacy
Respect the privacy of other members and protect your own personal information.
Do not publicly post or distribute passwords, financial information, real-life addresses, private phone numbers, identification documents, private account information, or other sensitive personal information belonging to yourself or another person.
Doxxing, blackmail, extortion, threats to expose someone, revenge content, or deliberately sharing private information to harm or intimidate another person may result in immediate account action.
Private messages or conversations should not be publicly posted without the permission of the people involved, except when privately providing relevant evidence to Taboo! Social staff or lawful authorities.
7. Spam, Advertising, and Promotion
Second Life creators, club owners, performers, DJs, photographers, venue operators, event organizers, merchants, bloggers, and businesses are welcome members of the Taboo! Social community.
You may promote yourself, your work, your venue, your club, your products, or your events through your own profile, posts, blogs, albums, and other appropriate community features.
Promotion becomes spam when it is excessive, repetitive, deceptive, disruptive, or sent to people who did not request it.
Examples of prohibited spam include:
- Mass-messaging members with advertisements.
- Repeatedly posting identical promotional content.
- Flooding comments, chats, or private messages.
- Creating accounts solely to advertise without participating normally in the community.
- Using misleading links, fake offers, or deceptive promotions.
Accounts used primarily for spam, solicitation, or disruptive advertising may be restricted or removed without refund.
8. Selling, Solicitation, and Scams
Do not use Taboo! Social to scam members, commit fraud, obtain financial account information, impersonate another person, or pressure members into sending money or valuables.
Members may promote legitimate Second Life products, venues, events, and services, provided the promotion complies with these Community Standards.
Commercial sexual services, prostitution, trafficking, coercion, exploitation, or arrangements involving non-consensual sexual conduct are prohibited.
Taboo! Social is not responsible for private transactions between members. Use caution before sending Linden Dollars, real-world currency, account information, inventory, or other valuables to anyone.
9. Social Profiles and External Links
Taboo! Social provides dedicated profile fields for supported social platforms. Supported services may currently include Primfeed, Discord, Flickr, and SoundCloud.
Additional platforms may be added or removed as the community and site continue to develop.
External links may be removed when they lead to illegal content, malware, scams, referral spam, deceptive services, unauthorized adult sales, competing dating services, or destinations that create a security or moderation concern.
Links to external adult platforms or pornographic sites may also be restricted or removed at staff discretion.
Members are responsible for the external links they post and for ensuring those links do not violate these Community Standards.
10. Copyright and Trademarks
You are responsible for the content you upload, publish, or share.
Do not upload content that you do not have the legal right to use, especially when doing so would infringe another person’s copyright, trademark, privacy, or publicity rights.
Taboo! Social does not proactively verify ownership of every uploaded image, logo, video, recording, or written work.
Valid complaints from copyright holders, trademark owners, or their authorized representatives may result in content removal, account restrictions, or other appropriate action.
11. Multiple Accounts
Each Taboo! Social account is linked to a single Second Life avatar.
One account may be created for each eligible Second Life avatar. Accounts may not be transferred, sold, shared, or represented as belonging to another avatar or person.
Using alternate accounts to avoid a suspension, bypass a block, manipulate activity, harass members, or evade moderation may result in action against all connected accounts.
12. Inactive Accounts
Accounts that remain inactive for an extended period may be restricted, archived, or removed at our discretion.
Where practical, Taboo! Social may provide notice before permanently removing an inactive account, but advance notice is not guaranteed.
13. Reporting Violations
Reports help us identify genuine violations and protect the community.
How to report a member
- Open the member’s profile.
- Click the More button.
- Select Flag.
- Select the most appropriate report category.
Available categories may include:
- Spam
- Offensive Content
- Illegal Content
To provide screenshots, context, or additional information, send a private message to Wolverat through Taboo! Social.
Every report is reviewed by a member of staff. Depending on the circumstances, staff may take no action, issue a warning, remove content, restrict an account, suspend an account, or permanently terminate an account.
Please use the reporting system responsibly. False, malicious, retaliatory, or deliberately misleading reports intended to harass another member may result in moderation action against the reporting account.
14. Blocking Members
You may block another member at any time when you no longer wish to interact with them.
How to block a member
- Open the member’s profile.
- Click the More button next to their profile picture.
- Select Block.
- Confirm that you want to block the member.
Blocked members are not notified that they have been blocked.
Blocking is a personal privacy tool and does not automatically mean that the blocked member violated the Community Standards.
If a blocked member attempts to contact you through another account, continues harassing you, threatens you, or otherwise violates these standards, report the conduct so staff can investigate.
15. Enforcement
Community Standards violations are evaluated based on the nature of the conduct, severity, available evidence, prior history, risk to the community, and other relevant circumstances.
Moderation actions may include:
- No action when a violation cannot be established.
- An informal reminder or formal warning.
- Removal of specific content.
- Temporary feature restrictions.
- Temporary account suspension.
- Permanent account termination.
- Referral to appropriate authorities when legally necessary or appropriate.
Taboo! Social is not required to use every lesser action before imposing a suspension or permanent ban.
Serious violations may result in immediate removal without prior warning.
Accounts terminated for violations of these Community Standards are not entitled to refunds for unused Credits, VIP Membership time, advertising, or other purchases.
16. Appeals
Members may appeal an account suspension or permanent termination by contacting Zanidu Titian in Second Life.
Appeals should clearly explain why the member believes the decision was incorrect and should include any relevant information or evidence.
Submitting an appeal does not guarantee that an enforcement action will be reversed.
Repeated, abusive, threatening, or fraudulent appeals may be ignored.
17. Changes to These Standards
These Community Standards may be revised as Taboo! Social grows, introduces new features, responds to community concerns, or updates its legal and safety requirements.
Continued use of Taboo! Social after updated standards are published means you agree to follow the revised standards.
